Juniper Networks: EX 3200 Series Fixed-configuration Ethernet Switches

The EX 3200 series fixed-configuration switches offer a high-performance standalone solution for low-density access deployments in the wiring closets of branch and remote offices or large-site office buildings. Featuring complete enterprise Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching capabilities, the EX 3200 series switches satisfy the wiring closet connectivity requirement of today’s high-performance businesses. Four different EX 3200 series switches are available, offering 24 and 48 10/100/1000BASE-T ports with full and partial power over Ethernet (PoE) options for supporting IP-enabled devices such as telephones, video cameras and wireless LAN (WLAN) access points. Each PoE port delivers a full 15.4 watts of Class 3 PoE, making it a powerful platform for supporting today’s converged data, voice and video network environments.

The EX 3200 series switches also support optional four-port Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and two-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) uplink modules with pluggable optics to provide high-speed connectivity to aggregation-layer switches or other upstream devices. The mean time to repair (MTTR) of the EX 3200 series switches is minimized with a field-replaceable power supply and fan tray.

The EX 3200 series switches offer an integrated routing engine that runs the same modular JUNOS software as Juniper routers, ensuring a consistent implementation and operatio of each control plane feature across an entire Juniper infrastructure. A purpose-built packetforwarding engine ASIC, the EX-PFE, consistently delivers wire-rate forwarding even with all control-plane features enabled. Based on existing field-proven Juniper technology, the EX-PFE and Routing Engine bring the same level of carrier-class performance and reliability to the EX 3200 series switches that Juniper routers bring to the world’s largest service provider networks.
